The good work of the College of Oriental Medicine and the Association of Chinese Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine International, with their International Teaching Centre in Sheffield England and the Administrative Office here in Retford,

has together with the renowned Surgery and Clinic Facilities been born of a labour of love and devotion

by Professor Steven R. Johnson the Founding Father of this Professional Movement.


The establishment of these Professional Institutes and Bodies is indeed meritorious, in addition to being of inestimable value to all who come into contact with them in one way or another.


I am delighted to report to you all that I have personally known Steven and his Professional work in all of the many facets that it demonstrates, for some considerable time. When I was invited to become the Senior Patron, I was delighted to respond by agreeing to support these activities through my position and to lend authority and friendship, and my personal assistance to the establishment and growth of these very important Professional activities.


My own personal interest and involvement in philosophy, matters of the spirit, natures power and the many natural cultural forms of medicine and healing gave me some sincere insight into to Steven's work, and I felt through this background more able to lend pertinent assistance.


Those of you drawn to the College & Association, and Clinic can take full confidence that they represent the Highest of Professional Standards, being the first such Professional Organisations representing Chinese Medicine in Europe and Great Britain to be Officially Affiliated and Accredited by the Chinese Government Authority, Gansu & Beijing. There is no higher human authority.


When the Chinese President and Professors made their Official Visit in 1994 I was delighted to hold the Official Reception here at our family home Babworth Hall where the H.R.H. Queen's Senior County Representatives were amongst my guests to Honour and welcome our Chinese guests on behalf of Professor Johnson and the College & Association. The Official Chinese Documents, Qualifications and Gifts were presented by the Chinese Authority of President and Dean, Professor Cong Chun-Yu.

My involvement in this historic occasion has, I feel enabled me to give something particularly tangible

in support as Senior Patron.


The College of Oriental Medicine and the other branches of this strong tree are growing and developing as each year passes, leading the way in this field of Healing and Medicine. As the years pass I am proud to see this sound progress and wish, like Professor Cong Chun-Yu to have my name associated with and provide my fullest support to Professor Steven R. Johnson, the Association & College and Staff, Students, Practitioner's and Patients in Perpetuity. You have my highest recommendation for their standing, professionalism and humane love and care.
